Boris Brindar is a second-generation (his father Ananya Brindarov was the Head of Conservation Labs at the
Russian State Museum in St.- Petersburg, Russia for more than 34 years) conservator of fine art, specializing in paintings, murals and icons.
After being apprenticed at the conservation lab of a second major museum after the Hermitage, Boris Brindar got his Master's Degree in Art Conservation and Art History at the Academy of Fine Arts in St.- Petersburg.
His professional career started in the early 80's: when the State Board licensed him to work as conservator of oil paintings, murals and icons. Right from the start he joined the City Center for Conservation and restoration of Fine Art in St-Petersburg. The Center received orders from numerous museums and art galleries in and around St-Petersburg, including the famed Hermitage.
Within a few years he was promoted to the highest grade in conservation. Boris Brindar became well renowned in art world for a capability of dealing with the most complex cases in conservation, restoration and reconstruction. Along with his immediate realm of conservation he acquired significant knowledge and hands-on experience in various other fields of conservation, - from picture frames to patina application on metal.
In 1991 Boris Brindar left Russia for the USA, where he established a partnership for fine art restoration, joined AIC and shortly after became well known through good press and television (Rick Seaback hosted a series of films about Pittsburgh's historical places and landmarks with Boris Brindar featured in "Houses Around Here" tape, available at WQED13 store).
